As well as featuring MediaTek 7nm 5G chipset, the realme 8 5G  boasts an 8.5mm super slim design, a 6.5" 90Hz Ultra Smooth Display, a 5000mAh Massive Battery (with smart 5G power saving mode), a 48MP Nightscape Camera, and 16MP AI Beauty Selfie front camera.

“We will bring more 5G smartphones to all consumers in a variety of price ranges."

Madhav Sheth, realme.

“While the realme 8 5G series is just one step towards achieving this vision, we have big plans to make 5G-enabled smartphones widely available,” said Madhav Sheth, vice president at realme, and CEO at realme India and Europe. “We will bring more 5G smartphones to all consumers in a variety of price ranges. With the realme 8 5G, users can experience speed to infinity thanks to the UK’s first MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G processor. As a 5G leader, realme will keep on democratizing 5G models to various price segments to make it affordable for a massive number of users”.

A focus on power consumption

The realme 8 5G has a 5000mAh battery, supports the 18W type-C quick charge, and  features a Fast Side Fingerprint Scanner, as well as a new Dynamic RAM Expansion Technology (DRE), which converts storage/ROM into virtual RAM.

A lot of focus has gone into the power saving on the device, and it also boasts Smart 5G Power Saving, which uses AI to sense the surrounding signal environment, and then switch between 4G and 5G, achieving 30% lower power consumption than phones without the Smart 5G feature.

The realme 8 5G comes loaded with the realme UI 2.0 user interface, which is built on Android 11, and is an “Enhanced and closer-to-stock Android experience", according to realme The realme UI 2.0 supports more than 100 customizable items, including Global Theme Color, 3 Styles of Dark Mode, Icon Customization, and more.

The realme 8 5G’s MSRP starts at €199 and will be launched in the UK in May, and will be available at https://www.realme.com/uk/.
