Recent leaks have revealed when Samsung’s new Galaxy series will be available, and that it won’t come cheap, with the addition of 5G to the new Samsung Galaxy S20 range appearing to have ramped up the cost.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 leaks have come from Max Weinbach on Twitter who has been behind many of the recent S20 leaks.

The good news

The good news is that you can expect the 4G version to be around €100 cheaper. However, it hasn’t been made clear whether countries with live 5G networks will have access to the 4G versions of the phone.

Weinbach appears to hold a fairly optimistic view that the new Samsung 5G phones will be very much worth the expensive price tag thanks to impressive specs. For example, the S20 Ultra 5G version will pack a 30x hybrid zoom and 100x digital zoom.

Having said this, customers appear to hold a slightly less positive view on the price increase, as illustrated in the replies to Weinbach’s tweet.

In comparison to previous generations, the S20 line-up is more expensive. The previous generation started at €750, €900 and €1,000 for the Galaxy S10e, S10 and S10+, respectively.

However, the addition of new specs and 5G could justify such an increase. The S20 trio will reportedly launch in France on March 13th. This would be just a month after Samsung’s Unpacked event in February.
