Like many of the large smartphone manufactures, Nokia has been forced to rethink its product announcements due to the cancellation of Mobile World Congress.

But HMD Global, the company which makes Nokia phones, tweeted a teaser, via Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, to let the world know that Nokia’s new offering – its first 5G phone – will be unveiled on March 19 in London.

James Bond partnership

Sarvikas tweeted the information on Tuesday, via a short promo video, which has a little bit of a James Bond twist about it, hinting at a possible collaboration and rumours flying around the internet about a ‘007 edition’ Nokia phone and James Bond accessories.

Yesterday, HMD Global confirmed to source, CNET, that Nokia is the official phone partner for the upcoming James Bond film, No Time To Die, and that the 5G phone will be used in the new 007 film.

This Sunday is said to see a new advert launch, featuring Lashana Lynch's character, Agent Nomi, using Nokia’s new 5G phone as "the only gadget you'll ever need."

However, when CNET asked HMD about whether the James Bond adverts would be held back due to No Time To Die’s release date being pushed back to November 2020, Sarvikas said the delay of the movie will mean "a really exciting year ahead of us in the build up to this much anticipated release." He added "Few cultural properties place technology at the heart of their appeal quite like No Time To Die," in a emailed statement.

Nokia’s first 5G phone is tipped to come with the Snapdragon 765G chipset.

It’s been a busy time for Nokia who has just changed CEO and announced partnerships with Intel and Marvell, to up its 5G game.
